The
22nd Annual ATME ATLAS Travel Marketing Awards
April 1, 2003
- New York Hilton Hotel & Towers
For
many years ATLAS Awards recipients have been individuals recognized for
outstanding personal achievement, each carefully selected by the Association
of Travel Marketing Executives Board of Directors. This year, ATME opened
up the competition to welcome submissions of examples of marketing excellence
in a number of new categories.
The ATME ATLAS Awards are designed to encourage breakthrough
thinking, innovative marketing and industry leadership. Work is judged
on innovation, relevance to marketing needs and demonstrated results.
The ATME ATLAS awards recognize executives and companies for innovative
tactics, results-oriented programs and broad marketing vision.
The
most prestigious ATME recognition is the ATLAS Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award is for individuals judged by the ATME Board to have consistently
distinguished themselves as marketing leaders who have advanced the travel
industry worldwide. Past winners include Ted Turner, Brian Kennedy,
Bob Dickinson, Roger Ballou, Phil Bakes, Mike
Gunn, Herb Kelleher, Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, Arthur
Tauck, Don Daly, and Arthur Frommer. This year the award
was given to Robert Crandall of American Airlines. The Guerrilla
Marketing and Inspiration Awards given to individuals were also presented.
The Association of Travel Marketing Executives' ATLAS Awards are the
only results driven marketing awards in the travel industry. The awards
recognize breakthrough thinking and promote extraordinary achievements
in the creation and execution of travel marketing initiatives in seven
key areas.
This year, the awards were presented on the evening
of April 1, 2003 at the New York Hilton Hotel & Towers in conjunction
with Travel Commerce Conference & Expo. All awards were presented
by ATME Chairman and EVP of YPB&R, Gary Sain, along with sponsors
James Sparks and Michael Canady of Discover.
